about

The arc of the album:
Since my ability to understand the lyrics is fairly low, my guess is that these songs fit together as a story of love, starting in the hell of the alone and lonely ape (Road to ‘Monkey’? Hell); the sensitive ups the downs of courtship, from the hesitant calling in 'The Blue Line', progressing to the longings of 'The Best Bangs in Town', or is it 'best breath'? The full certainty of 'LoveLove' and eventual slippery slope peril of 'The Shredder'; the hints of an unrequited love in 'Beginning of the End'...and then the true ending marked with the inevitable anguish characterized by songs of effigy and Bram Stoker heard as "Burning Owl" on 'She Devil Folk Bitch' and the 1970s awesome JRR Tolkien apocalyptic guitar soloing of 'Ellen of Troll' or "Erin the Troll". In any case, The Screws make a fine case for reconsidering what you might be getting yourself into...give me back my $50 bill!
